Here is a lesser known way of investing in new homes. When a builder has a model center in a new home community they sometimes like to sell those model homes and then "leaseback" from the new owner for a specific  rent amount and  period of time (typically a couple of years).  While the community is being built out the builder will have set price increases so there should be forced appreciation during this time.
